A Brief History of Beeswax

A Brief History of Beeswax

Beeswax is a natural wax produced by honey bees. The bees use it to construct their honeycombs and its a byproduct highly valued by us humans, who have been using beeswax for a variety of purposes for thousands of years.

The use of beeswax dates back to ancient civilizations. Beeswax has been found in Egyptian tombs, where it was used to make candles and to preserve the skin of mummies. Then, in ancient Greece, beeswax was used to make sculptures and to polish leather shoes. It was also used in the production of cosmetics and in the manufacturing of medicinal ointments.

Throughout history, beeswax has been prized for its unique properties; It is a natural wax that is resistant to water and has a high melting point, making it ideal for use in candles and other products that require stability and durability. It is also a natural emulsifier, which means it can be used to easily blend oil and water-based products together.

Today, beeswax is widely used in a variety of applications! It can be found in the production of candles, soap, cosmetics, and wood protectants/polishes. It is also used as a natural alternative to petroleum-based products in the manufacturing of those goods. Beeswax is a farmed renewable resource and is generally considered to be more environmentally friendly than many synthetic alternatives

At KingsFleet Inc., we use 100% natural Beeswax from Canadian farms to create products like our KingsFleet™ - Cutting Board Wax, which is a modern twist on the old-world recipe for protecting your valued wooden items!
